Updates to govcms.gov.au

Tuesday 13 April 2021

Last year the GovCMS Service Design team engaged with eight agencies to undertake user testing and discovery activities. From this research, GovCMS have gained insights into the preferences and pain points of our users. Annette from the Service Design team believes the activities were a great start.

"People were really engaged in the sessions and provided feedback on what worked well and what needed improvement. We are now working on resolving the issues identified at these sessions."

From ambiguous page titles to out-of-date information, we heard you. This is why in 2021 we are dedicating time to improving the user experience of govcms.gov.au

We have already started making improvements.

Some changes you may have noticed include;

  • We now display the date each page was last updated, so you can understand the currency of information.
  • The addition of breadcrumbs to our website, allowing you to see where you are and to navigate effectively.
  • "Our Community" has been renamed to "Gallery", removing ambiguity and aligning our website to our founding principle of an open ethos.

And we are just getting started.

The GovCMS team are excited to continue improving the website based on this and future feedback. We will keep checking in with you.

The govcms.gov.au Product Owner, Amy, is excited to improve the usability of the website.

"The fewer pain points for our users, the more they will be able to help themselves through self-service on the website. This means our development team will have more time to make the service even better for you."

So watch out for upcoming changes to govcms.gov.au and let us know if you have any concerns or ideas for improvement.

You can provide feedback on the website, or our service, through our Contact Us form. We look forward to hearing from you.
