Drupal 9 October update

This month we’ve been working on creating a parity between Drupal 8 (D8) and D9 modules.

Work is well underway on 95% of D8 modules. Once complete they will be D9 compatible. This percentage can be broken up into four sub categories:

  1. 39% already compatible
  2. 41% of modules have a D9 compatible version and are in the backlog to update
  3. 13% of modules are being worked on by module maintainers to identify a D9 compatible solution
  4.  2% of modules will be removed

The remaining 5% consists of five modules. Drupal maintainers aren’t currently working on the three modules below. We are looking at alternative solutions.

  • Login Security Module
  • Medial Entity Replace Module
  • Events Log Track Module

The last two modules relate to the theme of a website:

  • GovCMS8 UI Starter Kit
  • GovCMS UI

To keep using these theme packages, you will need to create a copy and maintain it in your custom theme folder.

You can track our progress on the D8 to D9 page.

Our next task is to identify a mapping of functionality between D7 and D9 modules. This will help you to identify the right modules when you rebuild your website.
