Meet the team - Introducing Kiona
Kiona has been with GovCMS for just over a year now although she tells us it feels like a lifetime.
Kiona has been busy working on some exciting new developments in the training space. This includes online training.
‘I’ve been working with Salsa Digital to make the Content Administration and Site Builder training manuals open source and available to everyone in GitBook as my first step. They offer step-by-step instructions on everything you need to know, from maintaining a website for beginners to building a website for the more advanced. They are currently available through our website.
Now I’m working with Salsa Digital to create a series of short training videos based on the Content Administration training manual. We hope the community will use them to learn at a time and place that suits them. It’s a great resource for busy people who can’t spare a whole day. It’s also great for our interstate customers or customers who need help on a specific topic. Keep an eye on this space, we hope to make them available soon,’ said Kiona.
We’ve also been working with Salsa Digital to review alternative training solutions while we are in isolation and unable to deliver face to face training.
‘I am also studying which helps me think about training from a student’s perspective’.
Kiona is a proud Larrakia woman from Darwin. She is one of the talented APS employees participating the executive talent program, excELerate.
‘Balancing study and work has been challenging, but definitely worthwhile. It’s helped build my capabilities and address issues of significance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in government. I hope I will be able to use all I have learned in my career to be an inspirational role model to the younger people of my community.’
When Kiona isn’t at work she likes to hang out with her fur baby, a Great Dane X named Zoe.
‘Coming home to Zoe is the highlight of my day. She’s always happy to cuddle up on the couch and watch TV. She never complains about watching reality TV, although she takes up most of the space. It is especially great to have her keeping me company during the COVID-19 restrictions.'
