Database Infrastructure Upgrade

Monday 31 March 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to platform performance, scalability and security, GovCMS will soon be upgrading the underlying database infrastructure for all the websites on our platform.

This upgrade will enhance our scalability during high-traffic periods, improve fault tolerance, and ensure we can continue to meet the highest standards of security and availability. It also positions us to support future growth more effectively by aligning our infrastructure more closely with the usage needs of our customers.

To achieve this, we’ll be moving all websites to new, dedicated infrastructure designed specifically for their usage patterns. This means greater isolation between workloads, reducing risk and helping ensure your application runs optimally even during busy periods.

What you need to know

Timeline: We are aiming to start migrating GovCMS production SaaS and PaaS websites to the upgraded infrastructure in late April 2025, with work scheduled to be finished by late-May 2025. To minimise impact on all the websites, migrations will occur in scheduled batches and take place Monday to Fridays out of business hours. Plan for a short code and content freeze during your website's migration between 6am-8am AND 6pm -8pm (AEST).

Important: You won't be able to make any code or content changes to your website during your website's migration. This includes user interactions such as webform submissions will not be recorded to the database during this window.

Next Steps: We will support you through this change and will reach out to your primary contact shortly with your specific migration date and window to your application. Please ensure your contact details are current.

Note: Non-production environments (e.g. staging dev, feature branches) will be migrated separately. More details to follow.

This upgrade has many benefits and will provide lasting benefits for your digital operations. If you have any questions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out via a Service Desk ticket
